BN GP7 #1545, ex-GN#645 and ex-GN caboose X187

: Zurich, MT, Summer, 1971

Along the US Highway 2 in Montana, met this BN train shown in colorized photo above. Ben Ringnalda of the "GN Empire" web site taught that the car on the rear is not a combine but a caboose.

In the photo is BN GP7 #1545, ex-GN#645 still in "Empire Builder" scheme, and a caboose still in GN scheme. GN #645 was built in 1951 and retired in 1983. GN X187 was built in 1913 as a coach, became a caboose in 1966, renumbered to BN #11478 in 1976, and retired in 1978.

一見混合列車のように見えるが、最後尾は荷客合併車を改造したカブースである。場所と車両については、サイト"GN Empire"のBen Ringnalda氏から教示頂いた。確かにMorning Sun Color GuideのGreat Northern版に写真が載っている。
