Thompson Motel was located at the center of the town on Frontage Rd (old US Hwy 50 & 6), facing the Rio Grande main.

George (1892 – 1987) and Sadie M. (1912 – 2001) Dutos built the motel in 1948[1]. Marion M. Cruz helped them operate it in 1950 according to the Census. Dutos' also owned and operated the Silver Grill Cafe opposite the depot[2].

The phone number for the Motel was 285-2218 according to the 1974-1975 Continental Telephone Company of Utah telephone directories, and the Motel was still operating at least in 1976[3].

According to Herbert Steiner, the motel, the cafe, and Amtrak gave up their business at Thompson in the same period of time[4]. According to the obituary for George, they closed the motel in 1979[5].

Thompson MotelはThompsonの町の中心部、US Hwy 50 & 6沿いにあった1948年創業のモーテル。現在は残念ながら廃業している。駅にAmtrakが停車しなくなったのと時を同じくして廃業したようだ。
