SFS Caboose #02, ex-DRGW #01440

This ex-D&RGW riveted steel end cupola caboose is found at the corner of Cerrillos Rd and St Francis Dr in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It has been repainted and lost its original paint and letterings.

D&RGW #01440 was built in 1944 by railroad’s Burnham Shops in Denver, CO. It was originally painted black with yellow pin stripes. It became SFS #02 in the 90’s.

この鋼製カブースはニューメキシコ州の州都Santa Feで見つけた。以前はSanta Fe Southernの#02だったが、現在は市内の大きな道路の交差点に置かれている。看板と化しているが、元を正せば1944年製のDRGW#01440である。かつてナローゲージのChili LineがAntonitoからここまで延びていたので、DRGWとSanta Feの町は全く縁がないわけではない。
