Reminder of the 70's along Rio Grande 04 – Price, Utah

Price, settled in 1879, is a city in Carbon County, with a population of 6218 according to the 1970 Census, and 8715 according to the 2010 Census.

The city is named after William Price who explored the region in 1869. The city was once served by the Rio Grande: Rio Grande Zephyr made a stop at the depot located at Carbon & E 2nd St. The center of the city has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2008.

The building shown in the photo above is the Price Tavern built in 1911 by Matt Warner(born Willard Erastus Christiansen, 1864 - 1938) and Mark Pomeroy Braffet(1870 - 1927). It housed the Tavern Saloon and Cafe on the main floor, exhibit space in the basement, and hotel rooms on the upper floor[1].

Priceは、1879年に始まる人口およそ8700人の町である。その名前はこの地にゆかりのある探検家の名前に由来する。Price駅には、かつてRio GrandeのRio Grande Zephyrが停車していた。

画像キャプションにある「Carbon & E 2nd」とは、駅最寄りの交差点を指す。登録文化財に指定されている赤い屋根の建物の右手前に、1978年まで駅舎が建っていた。町の中心部もNational Register of Historic Places に指定されている。下の地図は、この町においてこれから取り上げるものの所在を示す。
