At CP's Calgary Station, met this CP passenger train, the "Canadian".
Here, in the photo is the consist including this dome car.

I wonder why the steam was pouring from the car in the hi-summer season. Was it so cool in the Rockies?

CP #1417 was built in 1952 as CP #4059. She was renumbered to #1417 in 1955. She was destroyed by fire in 1971.

CP's station in Calgary was much more modern. It was occupying the ground floor of a boxy, office-like building in the downtown.

CPWX LO #601802 [CP Photo Archives]

cp601802_01.jpg: CP601802

According to October 2021 Trains magazine, Canadian cylindrical wheat hopper cars are coming rare, because of their inefficiency compared to today’s modern successors. Here is the one found in my photo archive.

This car was found in a NS eastbound manifest train running through Bellevue, Ohio. It was built by Hawker-Siddeley in 1976 for the Canadian Wheat Board (CPWX). It became CP601802 in 2007, only patching the WX.

It still keeps the original “Government of Canada brown & yellow” scheme. Bilingual letterings are the charm of the car.

Shown below are also the Canadian cylindrical wheat hoppers: CP(WX)606565 built by National Steel Car in 1982, and CP(WX)606851 built by Marine Industries Limited also in 1982. Both cars came out with the “Canada red” scheme.

All the photos were taken on Sep. 6, 2019 at Bellevue, Ohio.
