Making Spears’ Mobile Home, part 2

I’m trying to duplicate the whole town of Cisco, Utah in N scale. Here, I represent the making of Spears’ Mobile Home next to the Ethel’s Cafe.


I used 0.3mm, 0.5mm, and 1.2mm styrene sheets to make the model. Floor is removable for the ease of painting and later detailing. Rooftop air conditioning unit is also made from styrene sheet. Rooftop vent cap is a head of a pin, and grills of air conditioning unit came from Athearn etched metal roof-walk.

I first sprayed dark colored surfacer to seal the leaking light. Next was white, and finally silver (Tamiya TS-30) for the aluminum panel decoration and light blue (Tamiya AS-5) for the pointed fletching graphic. After applying light weathering with thinned liquitex, I installed the window glazing to finish my work.

ユタ州を走るD&RGWの沿線にある／あった、Ciscoという町を紹介している。今回紹介する建物はUS Highway 50 & 6に面してEthel’s Cafeの西隣りに建っていた「Spears’ Mobile Home」である。


模型には0.3、0.5、1.2mm厚のプラ板を用いた。いつものように型紙を作成、スプレー糊でプラ板に貼り付け型紙ごと切り抜く。塗装などの便を考慮し、床は外せるようにした。タイヤも転がる必要はないのでプラ板をポンチで抜き床に接着、軸などは省略した。

塗装はすべてタミヤのスプレー缶。白はサフェーサー、シルバーはTS-30、青緑はAS-5である。屋根面を中心に軽くウエザリングを施してから、予め制作しておいた窓を嵌めて完成とした。
