ARR McKinley Park Station in 1968

The southbound train arrived at the McKinley Park (now Denali Park). The station building shown below was demolished in 1987. It seems that the station had a wooden platform in those days. Park ranger might provide information there to those who left the train.

We can also see a sign plate of RAILROAD EXPRESS AGENCY in fine condition. Unfortunately, however, the year 1968 was the last moment for REA. The plate shows the last gleam of its life.

The Riley Creek Viaduct can be found just south of the station, beyond the park visitor center. Coming is the northbound counterpart.

McKinley Park駅はその名前の通り国立公園の玄関口である。駅も公園区域内にある。シーズン中は昔から賑わっていたようで、プラットホームには公園のレンジャーの姿も見える。冒頭の景色はこの駅からすぐ南に行ったところにあり、やってきたのはフェアバンクス行きの列車だ。見えている橋梁は長さ570フィート（約175メートル）のRiley Creek Viaductである。撮影の名所らしい。

最近のTrains誌でbridge、trestle、viaductの使い分けを読んだように思い探したのだが、見つけられなかった。このviaductも、ものによってはtrestleと表記されている。

さて、最後はいつも通りの公園サインである。今はDenaliと表記されているはずだ。
